Elyssa Baxter’s Bio

Elyssa was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. Due to the war, much of her early years were spent at her Grandparents beautiful brownstone where she enjoyed the sites, sounds and activities of the era. Her parents divorced and mother remarried providing her with a half brother and sister. The family had a greenhouse, grew lots of flowers and enjoyed neighborhood parties with fireworks and singing.

The summers of High school were spent running a daycare school at home and babysitting. After graduating, Elyssa accepted a scholarship to Towson State Teachers College, where she majored in Art and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. While working throughout her college years, Elyssa served as a Freshman Advisory Counselor and won the crown of Miss Towson.

Elyssa has a beautiful and talented daughter from her first marriage and has enjoyed the past 29 years with her husband Alex. Her early careers include teaching at the Junior High School level in Baltimore City, Business Owner in York, PA, and Real Estate Agent in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

In 1999, over the span of 6 months, Elyssa’s mother, father and step-father passed away, she retired from her Real Estate career and her husband was not well. For the first time in her life, she didn’t know what to do or where to turn. She knew she could not mask the depression and lost feeling and needed something that would lead her in a positive direction with positive results. Her search led her to Feng Shui. She studied Feng Shui with Hope Karan Gerecht and found a direction that suited her perfectly.

Having her Feng Shui Assessment done was key to pointing her in the direction of her natal element, the energy she was born with, the deep passionate force that should direct her. How helpful it would have been to have this information way back in High School.

After finding her direction, Elyssa enrolled in the Master Gardener Program at the University of Maryland. She joined a garden club, became club President, was chosen to head a District Committee and became Assistant Director for 2 years. Elyssa has served as Director of District III Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland from 2007 to 2009. She now serves on the state level as a committee chair and co-chair of another event. Elyssa also presents programs to groups on Feng Shui in the garden, Queen Anne and Her Lace and the Secret Language of Flowers and Herbs.

Combining her knowledge and talents, Elyssa provides Feng Shui Assessments and consultations to individuals for themselves, their homes and their gardens. She also consults for events, such as weddings using the couple’s Feng Shui Assessments. Feng Shui is the movement of energy which she designs for the couple using color, placement, simplicity of style, balance and harmony to positively affect the recipients. What a great way to start a life together!
